Over in India today, President Obama was about to begin discussions with his Indian counterpart, Prime Minister Singh, when Robert Gibbs learned that fewer members of the US press would be allowed into the room then previously agreed. Gibbs’s response, threaten to end bilateral discussions and “pull” the president.
I’m not a foreign policy expert, but I don’t think you just “pull out” the president from highly publicized discussions because some of your favorite reporters won’t get access. India’s spot on the UN Security Panel is up for discussion and we’re worried about Time Magazine’s feelings? Maybe this is typical, but seems very strange to me.
